In relation to the documentary film “MH370: The Plane That Disappeared” (MH370: Chiếc máy bay mất tích in Vietnamese) provided on Netflix’s service in Vietnam, there are contents that inaccurately reflect Vietnam’s contribution in the joint search and rescue of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 which was mentioned by the press.
After discussing with Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Public Security, on 11 April 2023, Ministry of Information and Communications (Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information – ABEI) has issued a strict request to Netflix to removed the illegal content on the documentary film mentioned above.
On 12 April 2023, Netflix reported that the company has reviewed the content that incorrectly reflects Vietnam’s contribution to the search and rescue of the missing MH370 and removed the entire Episode 1 of the documentary film “MH370: The Plane That Disappeared” (MH370: Chiếc máy bay mất tích translated in Vietnamese) on Netflix platform in Vietnam.


Episode 1 of the film has been removed by governent demand
Disseminating false information and offending the reputation of the Vietnamese Government is a violation act of the provisions of Clause 8, Article 9 of the current Press Law. In case of Netflix continues to violate the provisions prohibited by Vietnamese law in the near future, the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information will coordinate with relevant authorities to strictly discipline according to regulations.
